The fundraiser was in fact quite the challenge! Raising $5,000 in one month is no easy task and not to be taken lightly. Yet I saw it as a way to reach out to others who have not yet heard of our organization and get our name out there. I have two main priorities and that is to get funding for our programs and to gain attention through partnerships. We did get several new supporters whom I had never met to donate to our cause.
All in all the fundraiser and the party was a success! And although we did not meet GG's challenge we certainly got a lot of people excited to contribute and be part of our cause! To me, that was the best part. So, in all we raised $1280!!! A million thanks and lots of love to everyone involved and who donated!
But the fun doesn't stop there folks! Next month, May 22, EEI will be the featured charity for a benefit show that will be hosted by local musicians The Flat Nines and Pérola at Shaker & Vine in SE Portland. My dearest friend Megan is the lead singer for Pérola and out of the kindness of her heart she suggested EEI to be part of the event! Brilliant! The two groups are influenced by jazz, classical, and Latin style flavor. All of the ticket proceeds will be donated to EEI. I'm really looking forward to this night of entertainment and engaging our guests in global issues affecting girls in education. I am eager to meet a new group of people and gain supporters through this event. Oh, did I mention we're having a raffle?
Please stay tuned for more updates with EEI. There has been so many interesting things happening for us and I will be filling you all in very soon!
All the Best,
