Our host, Vendetta, was no stranger to fun, and the staff greatly impacted the feel of the event with their delicious drinks and appetizing treats. As people trickled in throughout the day we made new friends and supporters from regular customers of Vendetta. We have such a welcoming group of people who are already supporters of EEI that it was wonderful to see them reach out to newcomers.
Once the winners were announced we realized that everything had been auctioned off! Thanks to all of our donors we raised $2560! We could not have done this without the support of the Portland business community, local artists, Vendetta, our board of directors and volunteers, and especially our donors. This was such a delightful way to teach others about our cause.
Since then, EEI’s founder, Fonda Sanchez has sent off the application and fee for tax-exemption to the IRS. The donations we raised contributed towards the IRS fee and the rest will be seed money for any related administrative fees that we will incur prior to getting our nonprofit status.
Please check back for more updates as Fonda heads to India in search of a high school that EEI can partner with, to meet families and teachers, and of course, to meet young girls who we can eventually sponsor in the future.
